mat hoffman’s danger defying daredevil show at six flags

Legendary BMX rider Mat Hoffman invited Rick Kosick to come out to Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park in Valencia, CA, to preview his new attraction, “Mat Hoffman’s Danger Defying Daredevil Show”. If there’s anyone who would know how to set something of this caliber up it would surely be Mat, but I have to give him an extreme amount of extra credit just for making Rick Kosick defy a certain amount of danger himself by stepping into the steel cheesegrater globe of death. In a way you could say it’s a come uppance. After all, Kosick was one of the key instigators in getting Dave Carnie to enter a similar spherical situation while behind the scenes on a Nitro Circus shoot last season. Payback’s a bitch, though, because Kosick did not just have to contend with one motorbike orbiting his heavenly body—he had three ripping about him in orchestrated elliptical fashion. I know a cameraman generally isn’t a component of Mat’s DDD show, but I’d go back time and time again just to watch Kosick quake and stucco his underpants. Bonus: The Condor flies again!

links of the day – mark gonzales (now and then)
Legendary skateboarder, artist, and human being Mark Gonzales turned 40-years-old on Monday, June 1st. This is of particular interest to me, because I too turned 40 this year and Mark was featured on the very first copy of Thrasher Magazine that I bought in 1986 when I started skateboarding.

I\'d never had the opportunity to spend any time in the south until a recent trip I took with a bunch of friends to the SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas. We drove an RV from LA to Austin and parked it downtown just blocks away from the madness of the festival. It was off the hook.

jackass not on dvd – mark gonzales’s skate wheel

There are legends in skateboarding and then there is Mark Gonzales. To attempt to describe him would do no justice, but for the sake of those who may be entirely in the dark as to who he is and what he has done since first stepping on a skateboard in the early ’80s, let’s just say he is to skateboarding what Willy Wonka is to candy production facilities. But the “skate wheel,” now that’s something I can describe. (more…)
