photos of the day – preston lacy and wee-man

Who knows … Who knows … Who knows.

Even if you can’t recall the exact lyrics to the song of the musical gala dance number that closed out jackass number two, chances are you can at least remember this droning snippet: “Who knows … Who knows … Who knows.” Ironically, when it came time to film Wee-Man and Preston Lacy’s little stunt, that’s the very answer that anyone would have given had they been asked, “Uh, so what exactly is going to happen here?” Because no one had a damn clue. Not even the stunt supervisors we had to have on set. Someone, maybe Spike Jonze (probably Spike Jonze), just said to lube it up after witnessing a particularly lackluster “dry” run on the slide the day before during construction. So lube it up they did. Gallon upon gallon of water-based lubricant was emptied out onto the surface of the slide with no real idea what the frictionless outcome would be. So, when Wee-Man and Preston stood atop the slide belting out the lyrics, “Who knows … Who knows … Who knows,” they really didn’t know! And maybe that was a good thing if you want to get all Martha-fucking-Stewart about it. Whee!

We still don’t know … We still don’t know … We still don’t know.

We didn’t know! We didn’t know! We didn’t know!

Now we know … Now we know … Now we know.
