photo of the day – the industrial hindu foot lick

A while back I attempted to learn you about all these religious oddities and commonplaces in the mystical far off land of India. Yes, the very same place that influenced the more trippy aspects of the late ’60s Beatles records and, consequently, the new Rock Band Beatles edition (Liverpool is cool and all but it’s really no wonder Eleanor Rigby was such a bummer of a broad and lonely as piss). What I can’t understand now, though, is how I ever could have overlooked this bun buster of a photo. Wow. Just wow.

It’s a shame that Rajesh never made it onto the big screen with his big feet on jackass number two—at least in my presumably jaded eyes—but we all answer to a higher power in this world and in our case then it was one of the test audiences for a rough cut of the flick in the summer of 2006. Everyone was all jolly and giggly in the Sherry Lansing Theater right up until their eyes tripped head over heels on this segment—specifically an extreme close-up shot of Rajesh’s feet right before he punted Johnny Knoxville in the junk. So shocked were they, in fact, that the ludicrous moment when Knoxville took one gigantic kick for mankind it went largely unnoticed with nary a guffaw to be heard. And that there was the end of Rajesh’s fifteen seconds of Hollywood fame. Of course, two years earlier, nobody had even thought twice about inserting the clip of Steve-O and Chris Pontius performing a mock cultural ceremony with Rajesh on Wildboyz, but so it goes with the basic cable crowd. Cinema is a much more elite affair, you know, and off to DVD it went a year later as bonus fodder on jackass 2.5.
