Let’s see … what can I learn you about today. I know. India! Man, what a country. It was never really on my top ten list of places to visit before going to that great checkout aisle in the sky, but I’m certainly glad I had the opportunity to do so. To experience India is to be tossed into the ring with a sensory Mike Tyson. It’s a full-on sensory assault from the moment you step off the airplane: the sights, the sounds, the smells—by god(s), the smells. An olfactory one-two punch right to the snoot-snout. Otherworldly is one way to describe the culture (another, albeit hotly contested, is “third world”) and maybe that’s why nearly everything to be found in the country is revered in one religious respect or another. The cows, the rats, the elephants, the monkeys, the sexual positions, the baby shit green Ganges River, the homeless wastoids known as Aghoris—they’re all considered to be kinda sorta holy! So dab on a bindi and bow down before these photos culled from the Wildboyz mission to India circa 2004.
