One of the great unanswered questions still waggling it’s ding-a-ling out in the universe is, did Patrick Swayze inspire the creation of Party Boy? I’m of the belief that yes, yes he did. The films, the roles, and the lines of Patrick Swayze were no doubt instrumental building blocks in the psyche and swagger of Chris Pontius, and everything from Point Break and Road House to Dirty Dancing comprise key elements of everyone’s favorite exotic male dancer. In fact, we’d always dreamed of uniting Swayze and Party Boy in a jackass segment—a dream that seemed all the more real once Preston Lacy worked with him on Christmas in Wonderland—but as of September 14, 2009, that dream will, sadly, remain nothing more than a dream. So say it with me one last time: “Nobody puts Baby in the corner.” Patrick Swayze, dead at age 57. Rest in peace.
