photos of the day – wildboyz: the tourists

During the run of Wildboyz from 2003-2005, the cast and crew saw more exotic locations, people, flora, and fauna than most of the world’s population does in a lifetime. Not only that, but they experienced it in a manner highly atypical to what you’d get by booking your common cruise or safari package—meaning instead of being safely “behind the fence” they were right there in the thick of the circle of life made famous by Elton John. So today’s photo essay comes direct from Kenya, circa 2004, where the crew snapped off the usual bunch of “Yo, check me out, I’m up in this exotic piece!” photos with them and various members of the animal and/or tribal kingdom. Just one of the souvenir perks to the long working hours and haggard travel schedule.

Dimitry Elyashkevich flirts with the idea of natural selection by giving a rub ‘n’ tug on a black rhino’s horn.

Cordell Mansfield ponders how this cheetah’s pelt would look as his new caveman clothes.

Trip Taylor, world renowned naturalist and author of the best selling book, Giraffes in the Mist.

Jeff Tremaine, Food of the Gods or Great White Hope?

This is usually how it all innocently starts out. One second a human (Rick Kosick) is all happy-smiley as an animal (cheetah) does something cute and funny. The next second it’s all human screams, blood, and gore as the animal freaks out for no apparent reason and goes balls-out-primal-attack-mode.
