the manson family murders 40 years later

Forty years ago today (and yesterday, for that matter) marks the anniversary of the Manson Family murders here in Los Angeles, California. If for some reason you’re unfamiliar with the Tate/La Bianca events, Charles Manson, Susan Atkins, Tex Watson, Linda Kasabian, or the rest of the notorious and mostly convicted family (oddly enough, Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme is alleged to be released from prison this coming Sunday, August 16th), look elsewhere on what has since been renamed the Enterweb for information. There’s tons to be found online, as well as documentaries to be seen and books to be thumbed—namely Helter Skelter if you’re up for a good old fashioned bedtime read. (If you can’t be bothered then at least give an ADHD listen to the song by The Beatles or any covers/samples thereof.) Manson has long since become a cultural lightning rod of sorts, and his infamously crazed facials have been appropriated for a number of artistic works throughout the years, including this graphic I did for an Adam McNatt pro model for 101 Skateboards in early 1993. Shamless plug or crack(pot) journalistic reporting? You decide.
