Whilst cleaning my desk this afternoon, I unearthed a CD that Dimitry had given me back in February upon his return from Florida. He and Derek had briefly been down there at the tail end of a whirlwind trip (from LA to NYC to West Chester to Miami and back to LA in something like four days) to film some last-minute interviews for Steve-O: Demise and Rise. The CD contained images taken from an evening spent with Manny in his mom’s living room.
Now while many people know that Manny is a man’s man—meaning he manhandles alligators and sharks for fun like an Englishman sits down for his daily elevenses—what’s not so known about him is that he is also a man’s artist. He specializes in the arena of sculptural metalwork (think the body of work a la Auguste Rodin were he more fascinated by wildlife than the human condition), which is a very painstaking, time-consuming, and multi-stepped process. For a damn fine example of his handiwork just have a look at that bad-ass cast-metal ‘gator dominating the coffee table.
I’ve always wanted to do a broader feature on Manny’s sculptural work here in video form, but until we can get back down to the ‘glades this photo essay will have to suffice. Cast your votes below for who wore (and held) the following casts by Manny best.

A. Manny Puig

B. Dimitry Elyashkevich

C. Derek Freda
