In blast from the past fashion a la Michael J. Fox, let’s trip back down a timeline to Steve-O’s hits, misses, and emissions from the first two televised years of jackass on MTV, circa 2000–2001. This playlist kicks off with Steve-O’s very first encounter with Johnny Knoxville and the jackass crew, and includes such memorable segments as the “Goldfish Trick,” “Elephant Poo Dive,” and “Ass Stapling.” He wasn’t yet savvy to the “professional” delivery of lines, as evidenced by his rather stiff introductions (or, in some instances, where Knoxville had to step in and lend an assist).

The next batch of segments—”Worm Trick,” “Jai Alai,” and “Bikini Wax”—were all filmed on the second trip to Florida, when Steve-O met Manny Puig for the first time and learned just how important eyebrows are when living and stunting in an extremely humid climate. His last round of clips as a resident Floridian—”Idiot Launch,” “Stilt Fall,” and “Stilt Poo”—all came from the great chemistry experiment of 2001, when the whole cast was thrown together into the “Camp Pain” petri dish in Orlando.

A few months later, Steve-O decided to relocate to California, at which time Dimitry Elyashkevich, Trip Taylor, and a few random others from the production office were dispatched to document his cross-country move. Several “unseen” and “too hot” moments were filmed en route to the promised land, including “The Brand,” “Human Urinal,” and “The Booger,” as well as the approved for broadcast “Security Guard.” Soon after his arrival in Hollywood, Steve-O washed his long since lost car and the jackass television show ground to a halt, leaving him ample time to film in unfettered fashion for his first DVD release, Don’t Try This at Home: The Steve-O Video.
