I honestly have no idea what they air on the TV anymore in terms of old jackass episodes. A number of departments in MTV have gone Pol Pot over the years and taken a machete to them, some so much so that they don’t even resemble the original episodes that first aired in 2000–2001. But I would like to say with 66.6 percent certainty that the “Human Raft,” starring Preston Lacy and Wee-Man, no longer finds itself paddling along the now digital airwaves. I mean, fuck me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure this fanciful exercise in unorthodox packaging principles has long since been confined to the cornfield. The masses, however, must be fed, so we’re now harvesting these forgotten bits of corn and repackaging them for consumer-grade consumption. But more on this later when it makes the most marketing sense. Until then, please know that we did try to re-do this bit for jackass the movie in 2000 by upping the flotational ante to that a catamaran, utilizing both Preston Lacy and Rick Kosick as the two hulls. I was not present for this specific shoot that took place in Miami, Florida, but was later told that the “Fatamaran” royally sucked as a seafaring vessel and didn’t even merit a maritime minute as a “good” failed segment (it did, however, yield a few pleasant stills taken by Benzo, one of which can be seen in the official movie companion book for jackass the movie).
And, should you find yourself uncontrollably humming along to the music here, the track is entitled “Blue Sky Ripples” and it comes courtesy of Loomis: http://itunes.apple.com/
