This is a unique movie sort of meant for families that was filmed in a town I grew up in. It is one of those movies shot in Chicago essentially. The others, all the rest that is, were shot in New York and LA, great! America is so extensive. Anyway, Corey Haim plays this accelerated kid that ends up in High School early and falls for a tennis/cheerleader-type that likes him, but “not in that way.” Lucas wants some fuckin’ box, but she won’t give it up; instead falls for hunk Charlie Sheen. Lucas ends up getting mashed on the football field trying to impress the girl. The real tail was Charlie’s ex, Courtney Thorne Smith, and even more applicable, Winona Ryder! Yes, in her first feature, playing an alternative chick that has the hots for Lucas. It’s weird, he just doesn’t care or something; that is why Lucas is a weirdo. —Earl Parker
