nitro circus – behind the scenes with street bike tommy

This past December, Rick Kosick and I tagged along on a few of the Nitro Circus shoots that took place here in California. On this particular day, we met up with crew out at a ranch where they had a high octane schedule chock full of various ideas of a carbon-footprint nature involving mini-motorbikes, horses, Johnny Knoxville, and Steve-O.

During the course of filming some seemingly innocent mini-motorbike laps, Street Bike Tommy lost control and took out a good chunk of horse fence lining the arena. There were no less than five cameramen on the scene, but unless I’m mistaken not one of them caught the actual point of impact and I have to say it was rather comforting to see them still carrying on in the proud jackass tradition. Anyway, post-accident, Knoxville, who you could say has a soft spot for Tommy, caught up with the big, battered man while he was waiting to be escorted to a local hospital for a verdict on the physical damage done. Normally one would expect to hear a lot of whinging and the irritable like, but Tommy was happy as a clam—okay, a big clam—drinking soda pop and eating cookies. What a trooper.

By the way, keep one hand on the remote immediately following the “big game” tomorrow, because there will be a special sneak peek at an upcoming episode of Nitro Circus on MTV.
