So judging from this old club marquee in Chattanooga, Tennessee, I guess my cousin Roger Alan Wade wasn’t always the best about showing up for a gig back during his drinking days. Ha ha ha… how great is this sign? “If we’re lucky Roger Alan Wade will show” is funny for so many reasons. Obviously ol Rog’ had pulled a no-show enough times to earn this marquee, but still they sit there with fingers crossed that he’ll show up for his PAID gig that evening. It’s like Roger is doing them a favor or something. Well, I guess it was a favor most of the time, because when he did bother showing up for gigs he would often drink more than he made and that’s no shit.
Cuz’ was a real peach back when he was on the sauce, but now he has been sober for seven or eight months and he is doing awesome. We have a radio show together on the Sirius/XM Outlaw country channel called “The Big Ass Happy Family Jubilee,” Saturday nights at 8:00pm Eastern/5:00 Pacific, and his album Stoned Traveler has been number one on the Amazon country/alt charts more than a few times. He is touring the country for the first time, and his video for “The First Time I Saw Waylon” is playing on CMT’s Pure channel. Most of all, though, he is happy and healthy, and I couldn’t be more proud of him. Way to go cuz’, I love you. —P.J. (Knoxville)
