Here is the video “The First Time I Saw Waylon” that I directed for my cousin Roger Alan Wade. I called him back in the fall and said, “I am flying in this weekend to Chattanooga to shoot a video for you, is that cool?” “Heck yeah, c’mon,” was the reply. I had very little idea what I was going to shoot until his daughter Shandy said she had a lot of old Super 8 footage of Roger, her mom, and her sisters Jessica and Cheyenne from the ’70s. After that it all fell into place.
So I sent this video off to CMT and they put it up on their website and plan on playing it on their Pure Country Channel. They said if enough people log on to cmt.com and watch and comment on the video they might put it on their main channel. If I supplied a link for you, would everyone at jackassworld log on and say how much you like the video? Roger and I would appreciate it so much. I want to thank a few people for helping me out with this. I want to thank my cousin Roger for all his love and writing a damn beautiful song. I want to thank Dimitry Elyashkevich for his friendship and flying backĀ to Tennessee with me to shoot the video. Thank you Lance Bangs for loaning me your Super 8 camera at the last second. Thanks Jeffy Tremaine for discussing my ideas for the video and thanks for getting it color corrected for Roger and I. Thanks Spike for giving me last minute suggestions on how to shoot this or that. Thank you Naomi for pretty much everything. Thank you to Cody Hixon, from Knoxville, Tennessee, for getting me that Waylon Jennings replica guitar for Roger to play in the video. Also, thank you to Cody for the gorgeous leather work you did on that guitar (and the two belts you have made me). A huge thank you to Seth Casriel for editing this video, beautifully i might add, for absolutely nothing. For such a grumpy bastard you sure are sweet to me. Thank you. And last but not least, THANK YOU Shooter Jennings for giving me and Rog’ the never-before-seen footage of your father Waylon to use in this video for free. I can’t tell you how much that means to me.
Sincerely,
Johnny Knoxville (P.J.)
