jackass unseen – steve-o’s voodoo ritual

On his cross-country move out west in 2001, Steve-O made a series of filming stops along the way in Louisiana and New Mexico. Sticking to what we stereotypically know best, we threw Steve-O into a random voodoo situation in New Orleans without really knowing what the hell was going to happen. I’m fairly certain that we initially wrote something involving a “human voodoo doll” treatment, but Priestess Miriam found the idea of treating Steve-O like a pin cushion a bit too unorthodox for her own voodoo good and instead recommended a more traditional ritual that involved a snake, whip, and body blows to remove evil spirits. Yeah, sure, fine, whatever—as long as she whipped and kicked the shit out of him that’s all we really cared about. The resulting segment didn’t exactly fit the whiz-bang jackass mold, but it certainly set the stage for our subsequent trip back down to the deep and dirty south for Wildboyz, when Priestess Miriam appeared once more during the “Funky Voodoo Magic Show” (we were also able to find some honkey practitioners who were much more down with sticking needles in the boys).
