hoop dreams – eddie barbanell’s basketball shot

warning
These webclips feature stunts performed either by professionals or under the supervision of professionals. MTV and the producers must insist that no one attempt any activity performed on the site.

Eddie Barbanell finds a different way to amaze every time I am in his presence. This time it came on the set of Rob Dyrdek’s new show called the Fantasy Factory.

The Emperor Jeff Tremaine lined it up for Eddie and I to go visit Rob a couple of weeks ago while they were shooting an episode for his upcoming series on MTV. When we arrived at Dyrdek’s ri-fucking-diculous downtown LA loft, Eddie and I dodged skaters, BMX riders, and some yahoo on a motorcycle to meet Rob at his basketball court. Rob was a gracious host and he invited Eddie to play a little one-on-one. Rob went on defense and playfully started talkin’ smack to Eddie who was unbelievably silent for once. Eddie simply leaned right, and when Rob leaned that way to defend him Eddie sliced to the left, dribbled in strong, and gracefully lofted a beautiful left-handed lay-up into the hoop. Rob started playing a little tighter defense after that. Heh heh… It was a great moment, but the best was still to come. After Rob asked me to perform a little stunt for the cameras (which I obliged), Jeff asked Eddie to attempt a trick shot from beyond half-court. Um, I will quit writing now and simply let the video do the talking. In closing, all I will say is, Eddie Barbanell, you are something else.

Love,

Knoxville
