jackass gumball rally special, part 3

We used to have some pretty decent music strewn throughout this jackass gumball rally special, but most all was swapped out in the media move to DVD in 2005. On the montaged drive to Finland in Part 3, for instance, the original song used was “The Nobodies,” by Marilyn Manson. What’s interesting about this particular song is that it was supposed to be the single for a “jackass the music” soundtrack CD produced by Interscope that met its maker before it was even made (there was, however, a rare promo single pressed for “The Nobodies” that stated it to be a forthcoming track for this unrealized soundtrack). Additionally, we’d had three meetings with Marilyn Manson to collaborate on a joint music video for “The Nobodies” featuring the cast of jackass, but this, too, pulled up short in the shitter as neither party could agree on a mutually satisfying idea. Manson eventually went on to film some random arty take on the Hansel and Gretel fable with a pie machine of sorts, the soon-to-be-unused ending of which we’d filmed on our own with Preston Lacy delivering a “surprise” pie in the face to Johnny Knoxville (following the pie attack, Spike Jonze rushed in to do a close-up reveal on Knoxville’s eye which—surprise!—had an opaque contact on it to white out the cornea a la Manson’s optic trademark). And that is your exceedingly trivial bit of jackass history for the day.
