jackassworld live replay – the silly string incident

Yesterday was one of those “eh” days in the office. No, not in the Canadian sense, just kind of blasé, where we really couldn’t muster two shits of creative thought for jackassworld live that afternoon. Plus, we’d just come off such a good show with Sign Of The Fox and Wee Man the previous week that anything to follow would most likely be a let down. So throughout the day I deflected inquiries about the show from the community (one person I’d even told that if we did go on to not expect much as it would probably be a very short affair, perhaps punctuated by the routine angry outburst of sorts from the host), up until around 2:00pm when Rick Kosick finally decided to cancel the show altogether. Accordingly, I distributed a formal bulletin to all registered community members.

Seth, however, started to lay a guilt trip on us, saying that people actually take off work and/or set aside this time of their day to sit and watch our muppet asses. Perhaps with this thought in mind—and no more than ten minutes from the usual show time –ish—Rick decided to just go on live from his desk while he worked on editing the latest office opus with Wolfie.

Meanwhile, Mike G. and Shanna had been cleaning up our squalid conference room/jackassworld live set that afternoon to prepare a desk for the recently relocated Chris Pontius. Amid the debris unearthed in the room, Mike G. found a box of assorted shit that one of our community members (Amanda) had sent to the office. Contained within that box was a canister of Silly String™. Thus, the stage was set for all that followed.

Now what you don’t see in the video above is the first time that Josh hosed down Kosick with the Silly String™. Following this innocent little sabotage, Kosick barged out of his office with a fistful of the Silly String™—which by now had become Angry String™—and crammed it into Josh’s face and all over the keyboard of his laptop, a/k/a “the website.” Josh retaliated in turn and that’s when Dimitry whipped out his trusty Flip cam to record the event for posterity. This significantly upped the emotional factor of the Angry String™ to Irrational Fits of Uncontrollable Rage String™, as Kosick attempted to kick down the door to Josh and Wolfie’s shared office space. Again, what you don’t quite see in the video is that the entire wall surrounding the immovable metal doorframe was dramatically bowing with each Kosick kick (the wall is actually separated from the door frame now).

Although I didn’t know it at the time, apparently Silly String™ is considered to be a banned substance in the city of Hollywood. I now understand why.
