photo of the day – chris pontius

Today I have a brain cloud. Well, it’s really a head cold of sorts, but the resulting cranial condition feels very much like an atmospheric high pressure system has set in betwixt my hemispheres. Whenever I have a brain cloud, three distinct things come to mind: 1) Joe Versus the Volcano; 2) the city of Seattle; and 3) coffee.

Conveniently, I have two of those items summed up in one here on my laptop, as I lay ailing in bed and flailing for an end to words. The photo is of Chris Pontius and it was taken during the making of the non-film-worthy segment “Seattle Skimboarding” for jackass the movie (unless you’re sitting in a dojo in Tokyo reading this, in which case it was a fine and film-worthy skit indeed). Anyway, this is an extremely modified (for annoying and inescapable legal reasons) version of a certain cultural corporate behemoth’s logo, the sentiment of which is a bit more blunt in nature than the previous Big Brother T-shirt it was inspired from (the original shirt design can be somewhat seen here and depicts the twisted two-tailed merbitch flipping double birds).

And now that I’ve fulfilled any and all work obligations for the day, I am going to slip into a pleasant mid-day coma courtesy of some pharmaceutical head cold cocktail. Invariably this is the kind of artificial nap from which I will wake and feel as if my bone marrow was surgically replaced with Kleenex, and I must say I’m more than looking forward to this comfortably numb state.
