Following in the thrashin’ tradition of such legendary skate rock acts as The Faction, Drunk Injuns, and the Big Boys, Chris Pontius gets wild in the streets with his latest song, “Smash Grind City.” In true Pontius fashion, “Smash Grind City” was conceived and written over the span of one night and then recorded the very next day at JxPx Blackmon’s Studebaker Studios. Rick Kosick then cut the video together with footage of Pontius skating down Hollywood Boulevard and a smattering of pre-existing skateboard clips from the throughout the years of jackass and Wildboyz featuring: Wee Man, Dave England, Mike Kassak, Steve-O, Bam Margera, Johnny Knoxville, Bucky Lasek, Tony Hawk, Bob Burnquist, Louie the Chimp, and Mark Gonzales. Who knows, this might just supplant Agent Orange’s “Bloodstains,” as my go-to anthem in drunken outbursts of a semi-melodic nature.
