Not only can we not afford a smoke machine, we can’t even get our scheduled guests to come in on time—or make that at all. Okay, so maybe Preston Lacy couldn’t help it (and he did manage to grace the show with his presence on the following week*), but what viewers were left with on this jackassworld live “special” was a tour of our windowless world by Rick Kosick. Poking his head into a variety of dimly lit office spaces, Rick enjoyed a semi-literary but mostly scatological moment with Carnie; a look at Jesse in his suburban enclosure; a fruitless talk with myself; a confusing explanation by Wolfie of his in-office duties; a concentrated conversation with Josh; a brief encounter with editor Kosinski and web-gestapo Schwartz; a highly-anticipated and semi-Hebrew moment in The Wolf Den™; a random encounter with Tremaine’s assistant Mike; a sweaty-palmed introduction to Gio our accountant; and an unwelcome barge upon Dimitry’s dark and cluttered world this side of the Iron Curtain. The electrifying conclusion comes to you courtesy of Crash, of The Deadly Syndrome, and not Robert Pollard, of the now defunct Guided By Voices (or at least for the time being).
