Now presenting…the “Flying 69.” This stunt, for lack of a better word, first reared its ugly head (or is that two-headed head?) on the grounds of Camp Pain just outside of Orlando, FL, while we were slogging through something that didn’t even rate an extra-features spot on the jackass number two DVD—nope, not even the pussy edition. Boredom, I believe, could be hailed as the mother of invention here, with Chris Pontius and Bam Margera as the pioneering dynamic duo. Though astounding in its conceptual spontaneity this original Flying 69 was conducted on a day that was particularly overcast and cold with both practitioners fully clothed (there was also a certain sloppiness in technique that left a little to be desired). It wasn’t until months later that the Flying 69 was revisited by Pontius and Bam, at which time it fully lived up to its name—and fittingly so at that—in the esteemed presence of John Waters. The two whipped out this acrobatic combo-move with such aplomb and committal that the ass-less aspect of the costuming was merely icing on the fruitcake.
