Round about four years ago, world famous shady propmaster and drummer JxPx Blackmon introduced Rick Kosick to Joe Mora of the band HDR. The two bonded in rock and forged a friendship that resulted in HDR songs being featured on Wildboyz and jackass 2.5, not to mention a Mora score for Manny Puig’s Ultimate Predator DVD. And now Kosick is directing and editing music videos for them (as shown here).

Out of random curiosity, I did have to ask Rick if HDR stood for anything in particular. He said it didn’t, but I find that hard to believe. And even if it is true, I still want to make the acronym stand for something…anything. The first thing that pops to mind is “Hard Drug Revival,” which does seem like a very fitting rock phrase, but with my luck they’re a straightedge band and I’ve just pissed them off. I have that unfortunate ability from time to time, and I probably should’ve checked their jackassworld and myspace profiles to see if they had any clearly noted recreational and/or social biases beforehand:

Regardless, other possible names could be “Hot Dog Roast,” “Hump Dimitry’s Rump,” or “Harsh Dude Rad,” the last of which sounds like a studio band right off the soundtrack for the ’80s BMX classic, Rad. How many others can you come up with?
