Did you ever see that episode of The Simpsons where Homer joined up with a Lollapalooza-like tour as a cannonball-catching sideshow act? This scenario was, of course, based on the real life carnival performances of Frank “Cannonball” Richards. Although not a cannonball, this rubber bullet from A.L.S. Technologies had a similar rippling effect across the surface area of Preston Lacy’s lower right buttock, the momentary crater of which I amazingly caught milliseconds post-impact. Considering the staggering odds of improbability at play here, this remains to be a photographic feat I’m rather proud of given my limited comprehension of the medium and “click ‘n’ wish” shooting style. What I’m not so proud of, however, is my apparent willingness to get in so up close and personal on the hour-later aftermath of the rubber bullet. But really, isn’t that just the most picture perfect arrow pointing to his bean bag? Kind of reminds me of all those wacky tourist billboards you see pointing to stuff like “The Mystery Spot” in northern California.
