I think I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again: we got away with a lot of shit on Wildboyz. Way more than we could’ve ever dreamed. So when the red flags started to fly from MTV on a segment submitted for review entitled “Fish Eagle,” it was quite baffling indeed, if not slightly maddening. The clip, in brief, featured Chris Pontius and Wee Man out on a lake in Kenya, Africa, where they were conducting research on the skillful hunting techniques of the fish eagle. So serious were the boys about their studies that they literally put their wieners on the line in the name of all that is good and holy about science. And then, to be confronted stateside with, “Nuh-uh, no way,” from MTV, well, quite frankly it pissed us off, especially after all the other naughty and/or questionable stuff that had made it to air.

Thus the great “Fish Eagle” stalemate of Season 2 began as both sides dug in their heels and went to war. In typical ludicrous fashion, the “Fish Eagle” slowly climbed the hierarchal floors at MTV until it reached the very tip-top, where, unfortunately, it was still met with the response of “No, no fucking way.” (Okay, I just took some creative license there and that’s probably not a direct quote, but it definitely was the underlying sentiment after all our kicking and screaming.) So that was the end of that. The “Fish Eagle” never made it to air and went straight to extra-feature hell on the Wildboyz Season 2 DVD collection. All because of a few single close-up shots of the boys’ taut and tugged packages that we refused to remove or cut around.
