Soon after the international round of promotion for jackass the movie subsided, we pooled all our collective nature knowledge together and came up with Wildboyz. Actually, it wasn’t even called Wildboyz at first. The original working title was “The Nature Show,” which lacked significantly in color, you could say, but we’ve always had a flair for the basic. Only later, on the very first trip taken to South Africa for the pilot presentation, did the guys try on several other names (one being “Safari Dudes”), but it soon solidified into Wildboyz—yes, inspired by the Duran Duran song, but f’ those old jerks and their unwillingness to let us license the obvious “theme.” Not that it mattered much in the end, though, because “The Age of Pamparius” by Turbonegro nailed the WBZ spirit quite well indeed (“Freestyler,” by the Bomfunk MCs, ran a very close second, but this song was irreparably hampered by licensing legalities, too).

Released as an unseen bonus segment on the season one DVD, the “Cape Buffalo” was filmed during the inaugural Wildboyz expedition to South Africa, where Chris Pontius first began to hone his powers of observation and Sleep-O took the concept of sleep to where no men have wanted to sleep before.
