24 hour takeover – hour 7 recap

hour 7: recap

I’ve never been in a war before, but I’m guessing it’s a lot like this. Minus the bullets and bombs and missing limbs and all that, of course. But it’s like we’re living off the clock right now. I think there was a lunch or dinner call earlier, but the hell if I knew about it. Actually, I’m not even really hungry. Just working off this strange adrenalin, running around the technical rabbit warren between the jackassworld barrio and the rest of the studio looking for who knows what to happen. The first truly off-the-schedule moment to occur was right at the top of hour 6 when Steve-O duct-taped a ring of cans around his head and proceeded to bash the living shit out of them and, as a consequence, himself. The resulting spray did take out a few cameras, I believe, but oh well! Not my money. We then moved over to the main studio—uptown, as they say here in official MTV-speak—to watch country western singer Dale Watson perform “Hollywood Hillbilly,” a song specifically written about Johnny Knoxville.
